As the summer is heating up, one of our favourite dealers has turned up at Carmarthen Antiques Centre this week with a really great example of a Pig Bench. This very desirable piece of rustic furniture, made entirely of solid Elm unusually has it's stretchers. For those of a sensitive nature - look away! The name of the bench describes the historical use in the agricultural setting, a functional object for the slaughter and butchering of pigs and designed to be easy to clean after that messy process! Obviously these days they have been repurposed for use as a desirable rustic and solid, functional decorative table (or bench) and would look perfect if you are trying to complete that country living design, with it's simple construction. I doubt it will be here for long!
